Christ Above All!

One can find many things in the Bible. It is full of history, science, adventure, intrigue, crime, and legality. The stories of the Bible bring us romance, murder, familial love, and war. Yet one thing binds the Bible together, both Old and New Testaments—Jesus.

Jesus makes His first appearance in the Bible as the Omnipotent Creator in Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." We know this is Jesus because John 1:3 tells us that "All things were made by Him and without Him nothing was made that was made" and John 1:14 identifies Him as Jesus by saying, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory...."

The whole of Scripture is His story—the God who created us, allowed us to sin, then sacrificed Himself willingly to redeem us from our sinful state. It is bound together with the scarlet thread of His own Precious Blood.

We at Torah's Light Ministries are committed to lifting Jesus up and teaching Christ and Him crucified. As st. Paul instructs us, we depend on the "power and demonstration of the Holy [Spirit]" rather than our own wisdom. Together, we proclaim "Christ Above All!"

My First Eucharist At Thy Word HaShem, The Mountain of Fire, Fear and Faith: The Choice is Mine

I sat in a Catholic Church with my friend while the priest carefully prepared the host and the wine—the focal point of the Mass—the Holy Eucharist. When the appropriate time came, he raised the wine and repeated a similar variation of the “HaGafin”-- Blessed are You, O Lord, King of the universe, Who brings creates the fruit of the vine…" His had another aspect, “…and makes it for us the Blood of Christ.”

Then, he raised the host and said a blessing. It was one that I, as a Jew recognized, a variation of the “HaMotzi”—Blessed are You, O Lord, King of the universe, ...and makes it for us the Body of Christ.

We all know the story. Peter is washing his nets when Jesus comes up. With no prearrangements, no reservations, no security preparations, Jesus conducts a one service crusade using Peter’s boat. Then, He tells Peter to cast out his nets. The result was a supernatural catch.

Have you ever looked at this story from St. Peter’s perspective?

Peter and his brother, Andrew, had spent the entire night fishing and had caught nothing. Now, Peter was a business man. He and Andrew were not fishing for relaxation. They were not fishing because they liked seafood. They were fishing to support Mrs. Peter and Mrs. Andrew and all the little...[more]

The whole camp was abuzz with preparations for the day G-d Would ascend on the mountain top. All the clothes were washed. Every tent was clean. Each little boy's face had been washed. Israel was ready to meet the G-d that had delivered them from Egypt and the slavery that had plagued them for generations.

They all remembered how fifty days earlier HaShem had delivered them from Egypt, redeeming them with the blood of the Passover Lamb. He escorted...[more]

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, "I am the light of the world:
he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life"—John 8:12
